Aaron's Story

On December 27, 2007, Aaron Acosta was shoveling snow off of his roof when his squeegee made contact with a power line, changing his life forever. Although Aaron was spared his life, he lost all four of his limbs and didn’t know what the future had in store for him.

Five years later, Aaron was given not only his mobility, but his life back after being introduced to Rebeca Guajardo who fit him with four prosthetic devices. Unfortunately, eight years have passed and his prostheses are in dire need of replacement. His limbs no longer fit and he can no longer perform the simple activities in daily life that many of us take for granted—walking, playing with his children, providing for his family. After an Internet search led him back to Rebeca Guajardo (prosthetist at the Amputee & Prosthetic Center), he contacted her for assistance and she referred him to the Limbs of Love program.

Aaron knows that "if Limbs of Love will help [him], he will be able to reach all of [his] goals."

At the age of 30, Aaron deserves to live a full life. Aaron is not only a father, husband, and provider, but has many goals for his future. He is currently taking public speaking classes and English classes in hopes of one day becoming an inspirational speaker. He has shared is story with local groups in Chiuahua, Mexico, however he aspires to travel around Mexico and motivate people with his story.

Aaron has already inspired us with his story, and has been selected as a beneficiary of the 2010 Airborne Amputee Skydive Event. Aaron will be traveling to Houston to attend the event (he even plans on skydiving with us!) and will receive four new limbs through our Limbs of Love program.

Aaron extends a special thanks to all those who are helping him get his life back.
